Casa Cuba is a completely new brand made by the Arturo Fuente family in the Dominican Republic. Extensions of other cigar lines have been added in recent years, however an entirely new brand has not been added since the launch of Opus X in 1995. Casa Cuba was blended by Carlos Fuente, Sr. himself, using the time-honored traditions he learned from his father as a young boy. His intent was to recreate the experience and flavor of Cuban cigars he rolled and enjoyed in his youth using Ecuador Havana wrappers and a mix of Cuban-seed Dominican filler and binder. Made in a limited capacity of only 300,000 cigars annually and sold only at select cigar stores, the new Casa Cuba is more rare than OPUS X, another highly sought after Arturo Fuente brand.
The Ecuador Havana seed wrapper comes from the Oliva Farm. Oliva's wrappers are found on handmade cigars such as Romeo by Romeo y Julieta, Rocky Patel 15th Anniversary, Arturo Fuente Rosado Sungrown Magnum R, and Herrera Esteli.
Wrapper is a smooth oily reddish brown. Pre-light aroma is slightly sweet with a hint of caramel. Dominant notes of cedar, noticeable spice on the draw, and underlying hints of earthiness. Razor sharp burn and white ash. A medium-bodied cigar.
The Doble Cuatro shape Rated "90" in the Oct. 2014 issue of Cigar Aficionado.
